A Cup of Sugar

Neighbors helping neighbors

A cozy cartoon kitchen with pots steaming, a flour-dusted rolling pin and scattered flour

Community pantry exchange

No ingredient missing. No neighbor alone.

A free, neighbor-run food exchange. Ask for the one thing you're short on, or pass along what you can spare — so every kitchen on the block has enough to cook a meal, and good food stops going to waste.

Free to join. No fees, no ads, and no money ever changes hands.

How it works

A Cup of Sugar is a free pantry exchange for your neighborhood. Everything happens between people who live near each other.

Step 1

Ask for what you need

Post a request for the one ingredient standing between you and dinner — an egg, a cup of flour, a can of tomatoes.

Step 2

Or share what you can spare

A bumper crop of zucchini, half a bag of rice, bread you won't get through. Someone a few blocks away can use it.

Step 3

Meet a neighbor

Chat in the app, agree on a porch or a street corner, and hand it over. No money changes hands, ever.

What neighbors share

If it belongs in a kitchen, someone nearby is probably looking for it — or has too much of it.

Built on neighborly trust

Sharing food with strangers only works when everyone feels safe. Here's how we keep it that way.

Neighbors near you

Listings are pinned to a neighborhood or general area, not a doorstep. Your exact address is never shown.

Names, not profiles

You choose a display name — a first name, initials, a nickname. That's all anyone else sees.

Meet in the open

Agree to meet somewhere public and well lit, in daylight, and bring a friend if you'd like. Trust your instincts.
